mini 4 pro firmware update bricked my obstacle avoidance or am i doing something wrong

  • Members

updated to the latest firmware last night through the DJI fly app and now APAS just feels completely different. like it used to smoothly route around stuff and now it either stops dead or just doesnt react at all until im way closer than i should be comfortable with. flew a test in my backyard around some trees i know really well and it felt sluggish and wrong.

i did the update on the drone and remote separately which is what i always do, updated drone first then the RC2. everything says its up to date. no error messages. i tried recalibrating the IMU and the compass but no change on the APAS behavior.

is this a known issue with this version or did i somehow mess up the calibration on something. kind of nervous to take it out for a real job right now

saw a couple people mention this on the facebook group too so probably not just you. might be worth doing a full refresh of the remote connection, like unpair and re-pair the RC2 to the drone rather than just updating them separately. also check that APAS mode didnt get reset to a lower sensitivity setting in the safety menu, that happened to me after a firmware update once and i felt like an idiot when i found it.

that said honestly if you have a job coming up id just wait a week and see if DJI pushes a hotfix. their track record on catching APAS regressions is usually pretty quick once people start reporting it.

this is why i wait like 2 weeks before updating firmware before any paid work. let other people find the bugs first. no offense but yeah it sounds like a firmware issue not a you issue, APAS on the mini 4 pro was totally fine before this update from what ive seen
