mini 4 pro keeps drifting sideways in sport mode?

  • Members

ok so ive had my mini 4 pro for about 3 months now and mostly love it but theres this thing thats been bugging me for a while. when i switch into sport mode and try to fly straight forward it kind of drifts to the left, not a huge amount but enough that i notice it especially when im trying to get a shot down a road or along a treeline. normal mode seems fine or at least i dont notice it as much. done a couple imu calibrations and compass cals in the field but it still does it. im on the latest firmware i think, updated like 2 weeks ago. anyone else have this or is my unit just a bit off

the drift in sport mode is actually pretty common from what ive seen, sport mode reduces a lot of the stabilization corrections so small calibration errors that get masked in normal mode become more obvious. first thing id try is doing the imu cal on a completely flat surface indoors, like a table not the trunk of your car or whatever, and make sure the drone sits still the whole time. also check if your sticks are perfectly centered when you let go, sometimes its a controller trim issue not the drone itself. if youve done all that and its still doing it might be worth hitting up DJI support because ive seen a few people get replacement units for persistent drift issues

had something similar on my mini 3, turned out i was always flying in the same spot near some electrical substation thing and the compass was getting messed up. moved to a different area and the drift basically went away. might not be your issue but worth trying somewhere completely different just to rule it out
