okay so ive been reading a lot of the spec sheets and marketing stuff obviously says O3 is better in every way but i wanted to get some actual opinions from people flying both in environments that arent a perfectly clear field. specifically thinking about urban flying, near wifi dense apartment buildings and that kind of thing.

im upgrading from an older phantom 4 pro which has lightbridge and honestly that thing was a tank when it came to signal, ive flown it in some pretty congested areas downtown and rarely had real issues beyond maybe a bit of video breakup. now looking at the mavic 3 and im seeing some people complain about interference problems in cities and it has me second guessing. is O3 actually worse in dense RF environments or is this just people not setting things up right? curious if anyone has done like an actual side by side or at least has experience with both systems in similar conditions.

lightbridge nostalgia is real and i get it. but honestly i think a lot of the O3 complaints you see are people flying with their phone connected on 5ghz wifi at the same time or having bluetooth on, which creates self-interference that lightbridge just didn't have to deal with because the whole ecosystem was more locked down. O3 on dedicated RC controller is a different experience than O3 with RC-N1 and a phone.

that said yeah lightbridge did have this almost stubborn quality where it would hang on even with degraded signal and just give you a crappy image rather than dropping. O3 can be a bit more binary sometimes. for urban stuff with the mavic 3 id strongly recommend the RC controller over the phone-based one, makes a meaningful difference in my experience around buildings.

tbh i think you might be overthinking it. ive been flying the mavic 3 in downtown chicago and havent had anything worse than my old phantom did. most of those forum horror stories are from early firmware anyway and dji patched a lot of the O3 stability stuff in the first year. just make sure youre on current firmware and dont fly with low battery obivously because the transmit power drops when the battery gets low, a lot of people dont realize that and blame interference when its actually just their own battery management.
