finally took the Air 2S to the coast for a week, some thoughts

just got back from a trip up the Oregon coast and brought the Air 2S along. ive had it for almost two years at this point so not exactly a fresh review but flying somewhere new always kind of resets how you see your gear.

the wind out there is no joke, genuinely had a few moments where i was watching the motors at like 80 percent and debating whether to bring it back. sport mode helped cut through it on the return but i was definitely nervous. one thing that surprised me was how well the horizon leveling held up even in the chop, footage came out way cleaner than i expected.

did have one annoying thing ? the ND filters i brought were my old ones from my mini 2 and they dont fit obviously, i forgot i never bought a proper set for the 2S. so i was stuck shooting in bright midday sun without them for like two days which was painful. just a dumb thing i should have sorted before leaving.

overall though the 2S still feels like such a solid camera drone even now. not sure id upgrade to the Air 3 just yet honestly, the image quality gap doesnt feel massive to me for what i shoot

Oregon coast is on my list, looks incredible from everything ive seen. the wind thing is real though i flew near the beach once and it was way more intense than i expected for what looked like a calm day on the ground. glad you got usable footage out of it. and yeah the ND filter thing is such an easy thing to forget until youre actually out there squinting at your screen

Honestly the Air 2S is still underrated. People were rushing to the Air 3 when it dropped and I get it, the dual camera thing is genuinely useful, but the sensor on the 2S is no slouch. I've compared them side by side and in good light the 2S holds its own. Where the Air 3 really pulls ahead for me is low light and the variable aperture, but if you're not shooting at golden hour much you might not even care. Coastal trips are where I notice it most ? that hazy overcast light is tricky and the Air 3 handles it a bit better in my experience. But honestly if the 2S is working for you, no rush to swap.
