Inspire 2 still worth buying in for paid work or just get an X9 setup?

so ive been running an Inspire 2 with the X5S for about 3 years now and honestly its been a workhorse, no real complaints except the usual stuff like battery drain in cold weather and the occasional gimbal hiccup. but lately im seeing a lot of guys on here and on other forums moving toward the X9 camera system and im wondering if its actually worth the jump price-wise or if the X5S with CinemaDNG is still good enough for most commercial gigs.

context: i do mostly corporate video, some real estate and occasional narrative short film stuff. nothing that goes straight to broadcast or theatrical, so im not sure the X9 resolves anything i actually need resolved. my colorist hasnt complained about the X5S files at all. just feels like everyone is upgrading and im sitting here wondering if im missing something or if its just gear lust talking

honestly if your colorist isnt complaining and the clients are happy, thats kind of your answer right there. the X9 is a genuinely better camera, global shutter is a real thing not just a spec sheet checkbox, and the dynamic range improvement is noticeable especially in high contrast outdoor stuff. but the price delta is pretty brutal and if youre not delivering for broadcast or streaming platforms that have specific quality bars, i think you can squeeze a lot more life out of the X5S setup. ive shot stuff with both and the X5S files in DNG are very usable, like really clean up to 800 ISO easy.

the thing people dont talk about enough with the Inspire 2 is how mature the platform is at this point. everything just works, parts are available, the flight controller behavior is predictable. moving to a newer system means relearning some quirks and thats real cost too even if its not dollars.

came here to say the X9 on the Inspire 3 is a different conversation entirely though, like that whole system was redesigned around the camera not bolted together. if youre going X9 you probably want to be thinking Inspire 3 body not just swapping cameras. which obviously makes the price conversation way worse lol
