anyone flown in thailand, specifically around the islands

heading to thailand in a few months and debating whether to even bother bringing the drone. heard the rules there are kind of a mess and enforcement is all over the place. some people say nobody cares, others say they had their gear confiscated at customs. not really sure what to believe.

mostly interested in flying around koh lanta and maybe some of the krabi area. not trying to do anything crazy just want some nice aerial footage of the coastline.

i brought mine to koh samui a couple years back and had zero issues at customs, just declared it as camera equipment. flying wise it was pretty chill, nobody said anything. but i was careful to avoid anything near the airport obviously and didnt fly over the crowded beach areas during peak hours. the rules technically require registration with the CAAT (civil aviation authority of thailand) before you fly but honestly i dont think most tourists do this and enforcement seems pretty inconsistant from everything ive seen and heard

dont risk the confiscation thing, its real. a mate of mine had his air 2s taken at bangkok airport on the way IN and had to pick it up on departure. wasnt even doing anything wrong just didnt have the right paperwork. id say research the CAAT registration process before you go, its not that complicated but you need to do it before you arrive. also national parks there are a hard no, rangers will take your stuff.
