group flights are kind of overrated imo

maybe its just me but every time i go to one of these group fly events it ends up being more standing around talking than actual flying. dont get me wrong the people are cool and its nice to see what other people are running but i drove 45 minutes last month and honestly got maybe 20 minutes of air time total. half the time someones battery dies and then everyone stops to look at someones new build or whatever. again not complaining about the social side, just.. i dunno. expected more flying i guess. anyone else feel like this or am i missing the point of these things

I think that IS the point honestly. The flying is almost secondary at these things. I've picked up more tips just chatting with people in the field than I ever got from youtube videos. that said yeah
