so i was at a bbq last weekend and someone asked what i do for fun and i mentioned flying drones and the conversation just kind of died lol. one guy thought i meant like military drones and another lady asked if i was spying on people with it. i tried to explain the whole hobby side of things but you could just see everyones eyes glaze over

idk its just funny how niche this still feels even though the hobby has been around for a while now. anyone else find it hard to talk about with people who arent into it

oh man yes. my wife tolerates it but i can tell shes not actually listening when i start talking about anything past "i went flying today." my brother in law got interested for like two weeks after i showed him some footage but then he just moved on. its fine i guess thats what forums are for

i actually got two coworkers into it after showing them some fpv stuff. the fast low flying videos tend to grab peoples attention way more than smooth cinematic stuff weirdly. now one of them wont stop texting me asking which goggles to buy and im starting to regret it a little lol
