been running a betafpv meteor75 for about 8 months as my indoor and tight spot quad and its been pretty solid honestly, had to replace a motor after a bad crash into concrete but thats on me not the quad. anyway im thinking about adding something in the 3 inch class for outdoor stuff when conditions are sketchy and i keep going back and forth between betafpv and flywoo. the flywoo explorer lr looks interesting for the range side of things but some of the reviews i read seem kind of old and im not sure if the build quality complaints still apply to current production runs.

also kind of wondering if the whole sub-250g thing even matters that much practically speaking. i know the regulations technically but in practice does anyone actually get hassled flying a 260g quad in open areas. probably depends on where you are i guess. anyway main question is just whether anyone has hands on with both brands and has an opinion on which is more reliable long term

had a flywoo goblin and the build quality was fine, no complaints there, but i did have an esc blow on me after a few months and getting support from flywoo directly was kind of a pain. ended up just buying a replacement esc myself which wasnt expensive but still annoying. betafpv's support has been better in my experience when ive actually needed it.

the explorer lr is genuinely good for what it is though, the efficiency on those builds is real and if thats your use case its hard to argue with it. just make sure youre running an appropriate vtx power level for where you fly because out of the box some of those lr configs are set up in ways that arent exactly regulation friendly depending on your region

the sub 250g question is kind of location dependent yeah. in the US if youre flying recreationally in class g airspace you still have to register if its over 249g so the cutoff matters on paper. practically getting hassled by anyone who actually knows the weight limit and has a scale on them is pretty unlikely but its one of those things where if something goes wrong youd rather not have that hanging over you. i just keep my stuff under the limit where i can, not worth the headache
