Inspire 2 still worth it in or am I just holding onto the past

so ive been shooting with my Inspire 2 and X7 combo for like 5 years now and its still producing genuinely great footage but im starting to feel the pressure from clients asking about 8K and whether we can match what some of the newer cameras are putting out. the X7 maxes at 6K CinemaDNG which honestly still looks incredible especially with the 16mm lens but i dont know, there's something in the back of my head that keeps wondering if im leaving quality on the table.

the thing that nobody talks about enough is how much the dual battery system and the hot-swappable payload actually matters on a real production day. ive done shoots where we ran 4-5 batteries back to back and the ability to swap the X7 for the Zenmuse X5S mid-shoot saved us when a lens got dusty inside. try doing that with a Mavic 3 Cine. you cant.

anyway the question i guess is whether anyone here has made the jump to something like the Matrice 350 with a cinema payload or if you're still running Inspire 2 for paid work and clients are still happy with it.

still running mine on commercial stuff, had a brand campaign last month that needed slow aerial push shots through a forest and the X7 with the 16mm Prime just crushed it. colorist on the edit said the LOG footage was some of the cleanest he'd worked with in a while. 8K is mostly a spec sheet number for most deliverables anyway, if you're finishing at 4K for broadcast or streaming the X7 is genuinely fine.

that said if you're doing anything that requires serious payload flexibility or longer flight times the M350 route makes more sense operationally. the Inspire 2 airframe is getting a bit long in the tooth honestly, ESC firmware updates have basically stopped and finding spare parts is getting annoying. i cracked a motor arm last year and it took almost 3 weeks to source.

tbh i rented an Inspire 2 for a short film last summer and wasnt prepared for how loud it is compared to what im used to. not a dealbreaker on exteriors but we had one scene where it was closer to talent than expected and sound had to loop a line. just something to factor in if you're doing any kind of narrative work where dialogue matters near the camera.
