so i was reading through some aviation news this morning and stumbled on something about the FAA potentially revising some of the remote ID enforcement stuff ? like the deadlines and maybe how it applies to recreational flyers. honestly i cant tell if this is actually new news or just the same thing being recycled by every drone blog for the fifth time this year.

anyone else keeping up with this? im mostly flying my mini 3 pro at local parks and i thought i was already compliant but now im second guessing myself. the whole remote ID thing still confuses me a little if im being honest. like do i need a separate module or does the drone handle it on its own? i registered it and all that but the broadcast stuff still feels murky to me.

would love to hear from people who actually understand how this works in practice, not just copy pasting the FAA website at me lol

yeah theres been a lot of noise around this lately. from what i understand the Mini 3 Pro already has remote ID built in so youre fine on that front ? DJI started baking it into their newer hardware a while back. the module thing is really for older drones that predate the whole standard broadcast requirement, like if youre flying a Mavic 2 or something from that era you might need to add one.

the enforcement side of things is where it gets fuzzy. the FAA has technically been able to act on violations for a while now but from what i've seen its been pretty light touch for recreational flyers who are making a good faith effort. the bigger headaches seem to be for commercial operators who are dragging their feet. anyway i wouldnt stress too much if you registered and youre flying a compliant aircraft.

i went through this same rabbit hole a few months ago haha. yeah the Mini 3 Pro broadcasts automatically, you dont need anything extra. i flew at a park and a local cop actually asked me about it and i just showed him the DJI Fly app and he seemed satisfied. prob didnt fully understand it either tbh but it worked out fine.
