Hi everyone! I'm completely new to drones and want to start aerial photography as a hobby. I've narrowed it down to two DJI options: the Mini 4K at $299 or the Flip at $439. The $140 price difference is noticeable for me as a beginner - is the Flip worth the extra cost?

I mainly want to take scenic videos on hikes and maybe some family gatherings. Both seem to have 4K cameras and similar flight times. What am I actually getting for that extra money with the Flip?

Any honest opinions from people who've used either would be super helpful!

Go with the Flip if you can swing it! The forward obstacle avoidance sensors are a game-changer for beginners - they help prevent collisions by automatically braking when the drone gets too close to objects. Trust me, you'll thank yourself later when it saves you from your first crash.

I started with the Mini 4K last year and honestly, it's perfect for learning. The Flip does shoot 4K at 60fps vs the Mini 4K's 30fps, but as a beginner you probably won't notice the difference right away. Save the money and upgrade later if you get serious about it.

Having crashed two drones already (oops!), I wish I'd started with something that had forward obstacle sensors like the Flip. The Mini 4K only has downward sensors. But honestly, both are great choices - just fly carefully wherever you start!
