Been going back and forth on this. Everyone says ND filters are essential for that cinematic motion blur, but honestly my DaVinci Resolve stabilization results look pretty smooth even without them.

Are ND filters really worth the extra weight and hassle? Or is modern post-processing good enough now?

Maybe I'm just being lazy but swapping filters mid-flight is such a pain...

You can't recreate proper motion blur in post - that has to be captured in camera. ND filters aren't just about stabilization, they're about getting that 1/60 shutter speed at 30fps for natural movement.

I used to think the same thing until I compared side by side. The difference is subtle but definitely there, especially with water or fast-moving subjects. Once you see it, you can't unsee it.

Honestly for social media stuff, post-stabilization is fine. But if you're doing client work or want that film look, ND filters make a noticeable difference. Start with just a basic 3-pack.
