firmware update bricked my mini 3 or at least i think it did

  • Members

okay so this might be a dumb question but after updating to the latest firmware my mini 3 is just sitting there with a solid yellow light on the battery and wont connect to the rc2. tried restarting everything multiple times, reinstalled the dji fly app, even tried on my wifes phone to rule out something weird with my device

the controller connects fine and shows up in the app but the drone itself just isnt being recognized. did the update through the app which i know some people say is asking for trouble but ive done it that way like 6 times before with no problems so i didnt think much of it

anyone seen this before, is there a way to force a firmware refresh without it being recognized? or am i looking at sending it in

yellow solid light usually means its stuck in a weird state, not necessarily bricked. try holding the power button for like 9 seconds to force a full shutdown, not just the normal press. then power back on with the battery fully charged. ive had the mini 3 get confused after updates before and that usually shakes it loose

if that doesnt work theres a way to do a firmware recovery through dji assistant 2 on a PC, you plug the drone in via usb-c and it can push firmware directly without needing the connection to work normally. that would be my next step before panicking

yeah dji assistant 2 is definitely the move here, same thing happend to me with my air 2s after a botched update. took maybe 10 minutes and it was fine. just make sure you download the right version of assistant for the mini 3 specifically because there are a few different versions floating around and using the wrong one is annoying
